Present as the Dot was an installation held in the Decker/Meyerhoff Gallery on the week of May 11, 2017 for the annual MICA (Maryland Institute College of Art) ART Walk. 

I imagine the present moment to be a dot. Circular forms and openings are representations of this dot, moments in time, and disruptions in space. All the pieces that I make have some form of a circular drawing or opening on them, creating portals for a timeless space—space without culture, without language, without identity. A space where a collection of icons from my past and present mingle with my intuitive impulses. This space is, as Julia Kristeva would say, "the space between the trans-linguistic logic of the unconscious and biological and neurobiological constraints.” This space doesn't require rationalization; it requires gentle observation.
