Oceanic Feeling Vol II

Vernale Chorus Series

“Vernale Chorus” is an exploration of the cyclical nature of love and renewal. The term “chorus” in this context draws from its theatrical roots, symbolizing the repetitive, reinforcing nature of a chorus in a play, echoing the persistent and recurring messages of spring. Spring, or “vernal,” traditionally symbolizes rebirth, growth, and the awakening of life. In this piece, the chorus becomes a metaphor for the repetition inherent in both the season of spring and the experience of love. Love, much like spring, signifies a period of rejuvenation and blossoming, yet it also demands a process of struggle and awakening. This cyclical journey of love mirrors the annual rebirth of spring, where each cycle brings new growth, challenges, and triumphs. “Vernale Chorus” invites viewers to reflect on the interplay between love and growth. It speaks to love’s power to awaken the soul, its necessity for struggle and perseverance, and its role in nurturing new beginnings. Just as spring follows winter, love heralds a season of renewal, encouraging us to embrace the struggles as part of the process of blossoming into new life and new love. Through this work, I aim to capture the essence of love as an ever-renewing force, a perpetual chorus that repeats and reaffirms its presence in our lives.

Mothers of Darkness Series

"Mothers of Darkness" is a ceramic sculpture series that delves into the profound and enigmatic nature of the womb and its intrinsic connection to creation. These amorphous figurines serve as allegorical representations of the female capacity to nurture life, symbolizing the womb as a cradle of creativity and potential. Just as a seed is sown under the soil, shrouded in darkness before it bursts forth into life, so too are the creative acts that originate in the unseen, chaotic depths. The womb, a space of darkness, mystery, and immense potential, mirrors this process. It is within this darkness that the seeds of life and creation are sown, nurtured, and brought into existence. The dark creatures and chaotic eggs within this series evoke the raw, primal energy of creation. They embody the chaos and the profound beauty inherent in the process of bringing forth new life and ideas. These sculptures invite viewers to reflect on the hidden, often tumultuous journey from conception to creation, and to appreciate the darkness as a vital, nurturing force.
